Turkish textile firms must green up

27/06/2012
Reports from Turkey say the ministry for the environment there is asking the country’s largest textile manufacturers to prepare for a greener future.

The ministry has written to all major manufacturers of textiles and clothing (those with an output of at least 10 tonnes per day) instructing them to give details of the plans the companies have for making their production more environmentally efficient.

Plans must show how textile companies intend to recycle more and consume less energy and water. They have until the end of 2012 to respond.
