Cordura supports attempt to row across the Arctic Ocean

Performance fabric brand Cordura has announced sponsorship of a four-man expedition to row unsupported across the Arctic Ocean. The attempt to complete the feat will begin at Inuvik in northern Canada later in July and last 30 days, ending at Providenya in Russia.

Outdoor brands including Kokatat, Eddie Bauer and Sea to Summit have used Cordura fabric to make clothing that the four rowers, Scott Mortensen, Neal Mueller, Paul Ridley and Collin West, will wear.

Sleeping in shifts, the crew will have two members of the team rowing at a time. Two watertight cabins will allow the crew to escape the 24 hours of sunlight for naps and keep their gear and food dry and secure.

“Cordura is thrilled to support the Arctic Row team as they challenge the limits of strength and durability in their quest to explore themes including inspired living, fitness, teamwork and innovation,” said Cindy McNaull, global Cordura brand and marketing director. “We’re happy to have their back with the best in Cordura fabric technologies.”
