Rogers aims new Poron product at athletic footwear

27/07/2012
Developer of cushioning technology for sports footwear and equipment Rogers Corporation has launched a new product in its Poron range, Vive Energy Activated Cushioning, specifically for athletic footwear. Vive will work best in applications such as insoles and midsoles offering cushioning, shock absorption and energy return, Rogers said at the time of the announcement.

Vive reacts to the wearer’s every step, the company continued, with the open-cell foam technology reducing shock and redirecting force away from the foot to deliver what Rogers refers to as “a lift-off zone for maximum propulsion and an energy-efficient stride,” reducing fatigue. In addition, it is infused with Microban antimicrobial protection to fight the growth of bacteria, mould and mildew.

“We engineered Poron Vive Cushioning with the needs of specific sports and athletes in mind,” said Brian Litke, senior manager for new product development at the Rogers high performance foams division. “Its shock-absorbing and energy-returning characteristics make it an ideal material for athletic footwear designed for powerful acceleration, push-off and quick movements.”
