Top executive resigns from Columbia Sportswear

Columbia Sportswear's executive vice-president of global sales and marketing has resigned.

Michael 'Mick' McCormick, who held the position since October 2008, was said to have left for 'personal reasons'.

Columbia filed notice of the change to the US Securities and Exchange Commission, saying chief executive Tim Boyle would take over his responsibilities on an interim basis.

McCormick was one of the highest ranking executives at the Washington County-based company. He had been with the company since 2006, and had been responsible for the US apparel, footwear, equipment and accessories sales for the Columbia, Sorel and Montrail brands.

He has held key sales and marketing positions in the sports industry during his 20 year career. He served as chief marketing officer of Golf Galaxy from 2003 to 2006. Before that, he worked at Nike as an eastern regional sales manager, director of golf sales, southern regional sales manager and director of national sales.
