No response from Kolon on Kevlar patent ruling

Korean fibre manufacturer Kolon Industries has still filed no formal appeal against a US court ruling last November that it must pay around $920 million in damages to DuPont for infringements of the patents for its Kevlar fibre.

According to the court, Kolon unlawfully obtained information relating to the production of Kevlar from former DuPont employees in the build-up to beginning mass production of its own protective fibre, Heracron, in 2006.

Kolon said at the time of the court decision that it intended to appeal but recent reports in Korean media have said the company has still taken no action.
