In the apparel category, the brand’s Homy Rain Pants were the judges’ pick, and its Newport city bag picked up the accessories award.
Vaude has said that the Homy Rain Pants combine a textile look with jeans-style decorative stitching. They offer full weather protection while cycling, the company insists. “They are made from environmentally friendly materials manufactured in accordance with bluesign standards,” Vaude adds. “With a mesh lining and reflective elements, there are no more excuses to not be stylish and eco-friendly even in the worst weather.” Adjustable leg cuffs make these over-trousers easy to get into and out of.
For its part, the Newport bag offers 22 litres of volume and a separate laptop compartment. The bag can be quickly and easily attached to a gear rack with a detachable mounting rail providing what the company calls a “plug-and-ride feature”. When the bike bag is used as a shoulder bag, the guide rail can be detached from the back of the bag for carrying comfort. It is made entirely without PVC and comes with integrated reflective elements and a rain cover.
