Vietnam could become wool processing hub

Rising labour costs in China are encouraging wool processors to look at other countries and Kelly McAvoy, AWI’s head of urban wear, has told local media that because Vietnam already processes cotton from raw product to final garment, it is capable of processing wool equally well.
“We want to create more demand for Australian merino wool, and if we can create more demand by looking at alternatives and creating new manufacturing hubs then that’s obviously important to us and something that we’re looking at quite closely.’
