Chinese visit Pakistan to boost textile trade

A delegation from the Chinese textile industry visiting Pakistan is hoping to increase sales of textile machinery to the country and boost trade.

Pakistan has recently removed custom duty and taxes on textile machinery imports and approved funds to support the industry, according to local press.

The new trade framework has set a target to export $20bn-worth of textiles by 2015, said Dr Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, the Pakistani government’s adviser on textiles.

The Chinese delegation were also said to be interested in purchasing cotton yarn and fabric from Pakistan.
