Lululemon is sticking with yoga and running

Specialist yogawear and running apparel brand Lululemon has said it will work to to take its products into more markets around the world but chief executive, Christine Day, has insisted it will continue to focus on sports clothing rather than move into mainstream fashion.

Ms Day made the announcement to analysts on announcing Lululemon’s results for the first half of the year.
She said: “I want to be really clear. We aren’t shifting the brand to fashion.”

In the six-month period, the company earned net revenues of $568.3 million, an increase of 42% compared to the same period in 2011. Gross profit for the first two quarters of fiscal 2012 increased 35% to $313.0 million.

The company has plans to open an additional 35 own-brand stores plus two outlets stores in the second half of 2012. It has opened a store in London and a second showroom in Hong Kong.
