India: state officials warn cotton crop has failed in Gujarat

Officials in the Indian state of Gujarat have expressed concern over the cotton crop there. Farmers across the state have reported the crop has turned yellow and estimate that between 40% and 60% of their cotton may be worthless.

R K Tripathy, Gujarat’s principal secretary for agriculture confirmed the problem of the crop turning yellow, according to The Times of India, but said his organisation was “taking steps to revive the crop back to white”."
