Gas supply problems for Pakistani textile manufacturers

17/09/2012
The authorities in Pakistan have cut supplies of gas to textile manufacturers in the country. Factories will have four days’ supply instead of the five they had under the previous arrangement.

This reduction will be temporary and the factories will have gas five days a week once maintenance work at the Qadirpur gas field in Sindh province is complete. This should be before the end of September.

Textile companies have complained of energy cuts occurring without notice and have said the energy situation is a cause of concern to them, especially with doubts across the country about supplies for this coming winter, even for domestic use.
