21/09/2012
The US-based company set up its factory in Flimby in the north-west of England in 1982 and the facility still makes New Balance shoes for many markets in Europe, as well as for China and Japan. It currently has a workforce of 225 people.
Company chairman, Jim Davis, said at a special event to mark the anniversary: “Manufacturing has always been an important part of the New Balance culture. We are proud to invest in our British associates whose craftsmanship, continuous improvement and excellence has enabled us to withstand economic challenges and remain strong. This evening we pay special tribute to their 30 years of hard work and dedication and re-affirm our steadfast commitment to footwear manufacturing in England.”
