Poole introduces full-cycle recycling programme

Poole Company, a US-based virgin polyester fibre specialist, has launched a “full-circle programme” for its EcoSure100% PCR PET recycled fibre, meaning it will it will recycle any item made with the fibre, further extending its lifecycle.

David Poole, CEO of Poole, said it meant its recycled apparel, linens or household wipes will be “diverted from a landfill not once, but twice”.

He added: “Many plastic bottles face ‘end of life’ as soon as they become empty. Poole is able to change the course and add new life – twice or more – into something already classified as ‘dead'."

Poole developed EcoSure, a staple fibre made from 100% PCR PET flake, as an environmentally friendly alternative to virgin fibre. It pointed to studies from The National Association for PET Container Resources that reveal the use of PCR polyester fibre versus virgin polyester fibre reduces energy consumption by 84% and greenhouse gas emissions by 71%.
