Gerber offers increased flexibility with new cutter

Ron Ellis, a product manager for Gerber Technology’s multi-ply cutting systems, said, “Over the past few years, the trend has been toward smaller, quick-turn orders. At the same time, manufacturers are using wider materials to maximise material utilisation and to cut full-size parts that don’t require sewing. With GTxL Wide model, Gerber customers can realise even greater cost savings and flexibility in the cutting room.”
The new cutter is a low-ply conveyorised system capable of cutting up to 2.5 cm of compressed material. It includes variable vacuum regulation to enable optimal material stability during cutting and less energy consumption. An optional knife chiller keeps the blade cool during cutting, which is critical when cutting fusible or heat-sensitive materials. The optional lateral travel kit moves the cutter among multiple spreading tables to optimise cutting throughput and efficiency.
