Jochen Zeitz resigns as chairman of Puma

Jochen Zeitz announced his resignation by letter to the deputy chairman of the administrative board, François-Henri Pinault.
In March, Puma’s parent group, PPR, announced that Mr Zeitz was to take on new role as head of sustainability at the group.
In June, Mr Zeitz caused some consternation by announcing that Puma would be looking for alternatives to leather, which he saw as environmentally unsustainable.
Last week sister website leatherbiz.com raised questions about Puma’s new environmental profit and loss study, which compares a traditional Puma suede shoe with a new model made of cotton and linen with a biodegradable plastic sole.
The company said it will elect a new chairman to take the role from December 1.
