IWTO to hold 2013 congress in Italy

The International Wool Textile Organisation (IWTO) has announced that it will hold its 82nd international congress in the Italian city of Biella, in the Piedmont region, from June 12-14 next year.

“The choice of Biella as the venue is a tribute to the industry in this area and represents an incredible opportunity,” said IWTO vice-president, Piercarlo Zedda, on making the announcement.

The organisation says that 92% of the 816,000 tonnes of fabrics using wool and other yarns containing wool produced globally each year is manufactured in IWTO countries.

There are 22 member countries: Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, China, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, Mongolia, New Zealand, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States and Uruguay.
