Wolverine brand chooses Poron for protection in new safety boot

HyTest Safety Footwear, a Wolverine Worldwide brand, has launched a new collection of boots equipped with Poron XRD M-Guard impact protection technology from Rogers Corporation. Called the USA boots, because they are made from US-sourced materials, the new collection is being made in Wolverine’s facility in Big Rapids, Michigan.

Other features are steel toes, electrical hazard safety functionality, full-grain tumbled leather upper, abrasion-resistant mesh upper lining, a cushioned removable footbed, and oil- and slip-resistant Vibram rubber outsoles.

The Poron XRD M-Guard is an internal, flexible metatarsal guard that provides repeated impact protection along the instep of the boot. It also helps work boots pass the ASTM F2413-11 met-guard standard for impact protection.

“Continually developing new materials that provide extreme protection and comfort, is a critical step in helping our partners, such as HyTest Safety Footwear, design the best possible products for consumers,” said Dave Sherman, new business development manager for Poron Cushioning at Rogers. “We are proud HyTest has selected the Poron XRD M-Guard, which is a significant departure from the stiffer composite met guards used in many safety footwear brands on the market today.”
