Thailand: Teijin up to full speed after flooding

02/11/2012
Japanese textile manufacturer Teijin has returned to full-scale operation at three of its polyester production facilities in Thailand after flooding halted work there in October 2011.

The company resumed partial operation at the Bang Pa-in Industrial Estate in Thailand's Ayutthaya Province, which was flooded by torrential rainfall, in February.

Its other two facilities - Teijin Polyester in Pathum Thani Province and Teijin Cord in the Rojana Industrial Park of Ayutthaya Province - resumed full-scale production in September and August, respectively.

“With these three facilities operating normally, output will focus on high-profit, high-performance products that strengthen the Teijin Group's competitive edge in global polyester fiber production,” it said.

The Teijin Group encompasses 150 companies and 17,000 employees in 20 countries. It had sales of $10.7 billion and total assets of $9.5 billion in the fiscal year ending March 31, 2012.
