Polymer and fibre manufacturer Invista has entered into a joint agreement with Indian producer of knit, woven and organic cotton fabrics Exim Knits to develop fabrics with Lycra fibre. The aim is to endow Exim’s cotton fabrics with a higher level of recovery and stretch to give wearers greater freedom of movement and comfort and to give garments more durability.

Invista’s head of marketing for southern Asia, Avinash Chandra, said on announcing the deal: “We believe that customer-focused innovations are key drivers for the growth of the textile and apparel industry. We are happy to lend our technological expertise to Exim Knits to develop world-class fabrics with Lycra. The capability of the garments to retain the required fit and shape over extended periods of time and numerous washes is the hallmark of their quality.”
