Nordisk’s Telemark 2 tent, launched at the 2012 OutDoor trade show in Friedrichshafen in July as the lightest two-man tent in the world, has won the 2013 German Design Award. Inner and outer tent weigh a combined 880 grammes.

The panel of judges for the 2013 German Design Award was made up of prestigious design experts from the business, science and design sectors. The Telemark 2 is one of ten winners in the competition’s Lifestyle category. The panel praised the tent’s “sophisticated design” and “superb materials”, calling it “a product that plays in the premier league and is really fun to use”.

Reacting to the news, Nordisk’s head of product development, Sarah Groth, said: “Telemark was our obsession and our flagship in the new 2013 tent range. We combined our years of experience in tent design with innovative materials such as carbon poles and ultra-light three-layer laminated fabric, to produce a tent that is sophisticated and functional. A
challenging year of experimental development has now borne fruit. We’re very proud of the achievement and would like to thank the jury for the award.”
