Deck shoe brand Chatham Marine was among the winners at the 2012 Design Awards for Marine Equipment in Amsterdam for its G2 sail cloth deck shoes.

Chatham launched its new sail cloth G2 Professional deck shoes as part of its summer 2013 collection. “As a tough compound that handles well, sail cloth is an exceptionally lightweight, water resistant and durable material, making it the perfect textile for use in deck shoes,” the company said.

The material, called Fibrecon, comes from sail cloth maker Contender whose woven sail cloth uses Dacron and polyester yarns, which have been selected for their strength, UV resistance and flex characteristics. The shoes feature razor cut, non-marking soles and innovative suction pads for on-deck grip. The padded foam foot-beds provide high levels of comfort.
