Invista increases specialty Lycra fibre lines for Asia
22/11/2012
The new production line will initially focus on production of Easy Set, a specialty type of Lycra with improved heat set efficiency, used with sensitive fibres such as silk or cellulosics as well as for use with moulded applications such as bra cups. By heating the fabrics at a lower temperature, the risk of thermal degradation and yellowing decreases, said the company.
Dan Kotkin, executive vice-president for the eastern region at Invista Apparel, said: “The Singapore plant was built with the most innovative and modern engineering capabilities to manufacture the best Lycra fibre technology. Producing Easy Set here reinforces our belief that the Singapore plant is a strategic asset, to help serve and supply quality fibres to customers in South Asia and ASEAN, as well as global sourcing value-chains.”
The Easy Set line is part of more than $25m of investment that has been made in the Singapore facility in the last two years. Twelve months ago, the plant started manufacturing Lycra with W Technology, which improves whiteness retention, uniformity and colour clarity for fabrics and garments in intimate apparel. Other new products include T-162L for apparel and HyFit fibre for the personal care segment.
