Gore's revamped membrane technology adds 28% breathability

Textile technology provider WL Gore & Associates has unveiled a new generation of Gore-Tex Pro products for professional mountaineers and outdoor enthusiasts that offer 28% more breathability thanks to a patent-pending membrane technology.

The centrepiece of the technology is the new Gore-Tex Pro membrane - a multilayer system with 100% ePTFE-based microstructures, durably bonded to the outer material, with a specially developed inner lining.

Face textiles that meet high performance criteria and a demanding garment design specification, added to Gore Micro Grid Backer technology, ensure ruggedness, and high internal abrasion and snag resistance.

Testing in laboratories and under real-life conditions revealed the products offer up to 28% increased breathability meaning minimised risk of sweat accumulation and maximised comfort, according to the company.

A number of leading garment manufacturers will be incorporating the new generation of laminates into their autumn/winter 2013/2014 collections, including Arc’teryx, Berghaus, Mammut, Marmot, Patagonia and The North Face.
