Retailer extols the virtues of clothing technology

Skiwear retailer Snow+Rock is highlighting the innovative technologies featured in outdoor clothing, as weather forecasters predict a colder than average winter across Europe.

It is promoting technologies to its customers to help them understand the science behind the product, such as Pertex’s Endurance outlinings, found in many of Rab’s down jackets. They incorporate an ultra-thin membrane with a durable nylon face fabric to keep water, snow and wind out while allowing sweat to pass from the inside.

The UK-based company is also promoting Dermizax EV laminate fabric, which is used by luxury outdoor brand Kjus and is durable and lightweight, waterproof and windproof. Kjus also uses PrimaLoft One insulation, made from ultra-fine fibres which are treated and then combined into an insulating core that is soft, lightweight and water resistant.

In terms of ski boot technology, Snow+Rock is recommending Calzat’s fold out-traction system, which uses a retractable crampon system that ensures wearers can grip snow and ice. The Yaktrax Walker traction is another product for grip: it is attached to boots and features hand-wound, rust-proof coils which give the wearer 360 degrees of traction.
