Award-winning US designer joins Li-Ning project

In a push for greater brand recognition in the US, Chinese sportswear company Li-Ning has brought in footwear designer Alejandro Ingelmo as creative consultant for basketballer Dwyane Wade’s footwear and apparel line.

"I've been of a fan of Alejandro for a long time," said Mr Wade. "Alejandro's knowledge of mixing fashion and street elements into his designs mirrors my personal style and the vision for the footwear we will bring to the market."

Mr Ingelmo’s first design for Wade will be a lifestyle/basketball sneaker which will be available in spring 2013 after debuting during his Fashion Week show in New York in February.

"Working with Dwyane and Li-Ning is a great opportunity for me and I'm excited for us to collaborate on some amazing products," said Mr Ingelmo. "I've been very impressed with the on-court sneaker designs I've seen so far and they're helping inspire my design."
