The organisers of US trade event Outdoor Retailer have announced a number of new events and programmes for its upcoming edition in Salt Lake City in January.

Industry members are invited to participate in the ASC Backcountry Workshop on January 21 at Brighton Ski Resort. Attendees will receive training from a panel of instructors including industry brand executives, athletes, photographers, authors, weather experts and safety officials.

Also new this year, backcountry and snowshoeing tours with Utah Mountain Adventures and Solitude will lead attendees of all skill levels from the All Mountain Demo base at Solitude into the terrain of the Big Cottonwood Canyon.

Outdoor Retailer's All Mountain Demo on January 22 returns to Solitude Mountain Resort, bringing together retailers and media to spend the day previewing gear and networking. Shuttles will take attendees from the Salt Palace directly to the resort.

"Outdoor Retailer is unlike any other outdoor trade gathering in the country and is now the largest wintersports show in the world," said show director Kenji Haroutunian. "Only here can you see and test the latest backcountry gear, fully merchandised next to relevant products you may have never considered including in your product mix."

More than 900 brands will show their latest products and developments, with 140 - including Hunter Boots, Puma North America, Reebok and Under Armour - new to the show, which takes place from January 23 to 26.
