Textile growth of 11% in first ten months for China

Growth in China’s textile industry has slowed this year compared to 2011, according to official figures the government has released on the performance of 37,000 large operators, but still reached double digits.

Between January to October 2012, the production of these textile enterprises had a value of around $745 billion, growth of 11.3% compared to the same period in 2011.

They produced 31.6 million tonnes of chemical fibre, 52.3 billion metres of fabric, and 21.9 billion pieces of apparel over the ten-month period, representing a year-on-year increase of 11.8%, 9.9% and 6.4% respectively.

Yarn output decreased by 2.3% year on year according to a survey of key enterprises carried out by the China Cotton Textile Industry Association.
