The Oeko-Tex Association has named its two companies of the month – nominees for the inaugural Oeko-Tex Sustainability Award which will presented in April 2013.

For November, Textilintrycket i Borås and Triumph were chosen as examples of firms that have achieved outstanding results in the field of sustainability.

Textile printing Textilintrycket i Borås is the first Swedish company to be certified in accordance with Oeko-Tex Standard 1000. Its co-owner, Mikael Johansson, said: “One big advantage of working according to an environmental standard is having better control and stocktaking of energy consumption in the plant. We can measure the results of changes and improvement actions, trace energy consuming processes, etc. Not only will this influence the environment, it will also save money due to a smarter way of working.”

The second shortlisted company is German lingerie company Triumph International. Its head of raw material management, Hans-Peter Grosch, commented: “In the sensitive product area of lingerie, underwear, sleepwear and swimwear, which is always worn next to the skin and usually for many hours, it is important that harmful ingredients are consistently excluded from the outset.”

In April, five winners will be chosen in the fields of environment management, safety management, quality management, social responsibility and product innovation.
