Ethiopian earned $35.6 million from textile exports in the first five months of the current financial year, July-November 2012, according to the Ethiopian Textile Industry Development Institute.

The Institute expects total textile exports for the year 2012-2013 to reach $227.5 million.

There are 90 textile factories operating in Ethiopia at the moment. The institute has been established to provide support for investors interested in textiles, and is responsible for facilitating the provision of land for factory construction, credit and power supplies.
