Avalanche safety pack among Bergans' new collections

Outdoor brand Bergans of Norway is expanding its product range, offering an avalanche safety pack and branching into freeride clothing and women’s mountaineering lines.

The company, which started life as a backpack manufacturer more than 100 years ago, has produced its first avalanche pack for side-country and heli-skiing. It features attachment points for skis and room for backcountry safety gear.

The Hodlekve freeride ski clothing line was developed with input from members of Team Bergans, a group of sponsored athletes from different disciplines. The line is designed to be tough and stylish with premium Dermizax NX - a supple, waterproof, windproof and breathable membrane - and four-way stretch fabrics with laser cut and welded seams.

The women's collection was developed with Cecilie Skog, the only women to successfully top the the Seven Summits (highest mountain on each continent), the three Poles (North Pole, South Pole and Everest), and to cross Antarctica unassisted and unsupported. The company’s US subsidiary, Bergans USA, is launching the line - which includes down and PrimaLoft Eco jackets - to serve the growing women’s premium technical clothing market.

Bergans will be showing the new products this month at US trade fairs Outdoor Retailer Winter Market and the SIA Snow Show.
