New managing director at adidas India

German sportswear group adidas has named a new managing director for India, replacing Claus Heckerott, who had been in the role for less than a year.

Erick Haskell was previously chief operating officer for the group in China and said he will bring his experiences of managing “a subsidiary which is considered within our group to have extraordinarily superb control standards”.

The Indian division of Reebok, which is owned by adidas, was rocked by allegations of financial mismanagement in 2011. "We have now put in place a comprehensive control infrastructure incorporating checks and balances and multiple checks on who is approving," said Mr Haskell.

Mr Heckerott will remain with the company, with his new position announced “in due course”.
