Under Armour's footwear vice-president resigns

28/01/2013
The senior vice-president for footwear at US-based sportswear group Under Armour is to leave the company at the end of next month.

Gene McCarthy has overseen the Baltimore-based company's efforts to grow market share in the shoe sector since 2009. He led a team that designed several well-received shoes, including a lightweight running shoe called the Spine and the Highlight football cleat.

The footwear division is poised to notch a second full year of sales growth when it reports 2012 results on January 31.

Chief operating officer Kip Fulks will take over management of the division.
