Rossignol uses Swedish technology in ‘safer’ helmet range

Skiwear brand Rossignol has partnered a snow helmet company to offer a new line of helmets that it says offers increased brain protection.

MIPS new ‘Pursuit' is an ultra-lightweight helmet with passive and active ventilation and a foldable padding.

The MIPS Brain Protection system was developed by a Swedish neuroscientist to address angled impact and rotational forces to the brain. Concussions and brain injuries are often caused by rotational violence to the brain during a head impact and MIPS uses a low friction layer to absorb much of the energy created by oblique blows.

Flavien Foucher, Rossignol’s equipment product manager, said: “The helmet industry has seen a lot of technical improvements in the last decade - in-mould helmets, Epp multi-impact foams, hybrid constructions, all with the same goal: to improve the user’s safety. MIPS is a natural evolution and the extra step towards increased security.”
