Cocona offers new insulation system

“The unique thing about the insulation system is we have a taffeta using Cocona technology where you can either print the Cocona technology onto the taffeta or you can use it in the yarn,” explained Garrett Poorman, sales manager for Europe. “Its active particles use the body’s energy to help increase evaporation and because of its unique pore structure it has the ability to spread moisture.”
The insulation has a high Clo value, which is the ability to store warmth per density. “It produces a dry insulation, so there is a dry microclimate between layers. It’s very high lofted and it doesn’t have any problems with fibre migration,” added Mr Poorman.
Alan Lekan, vice-president ofproduct development, said: “Insulation, by nature, is engineered to trap heat inside a garment which hinders breathability and holds moisture. The Cocona insulation system provides an active path through the insulation for condensation to escape quickly and removes the moisture that can cause a chill."
While the company launched the insulation last year, the combined insulation system is a new development, joining a quick-drying first-layer product featuring high snag resistance which it also recently unveiled.
