France “new focus” for Woolmark

12/02/2013
The Woolmark Company has announced a new focus on the French market with the opening of an office in Paris, which will be officially inaugurated at the end of February and led by the newly appointed country manager, Christina del Gobbo Marchet.

The opening has been described as a “significant step” by the company, which, since 2010, has engaged in a global repositioning plan to increase the “knowledge, appreciation and demand of” Australian merino wool, and now plans to relaunch the brand in France.

“As the epicentre of luxury and excellence, France has always been one of the most important countries for wool, both from a B2B perspective, with the importance of the French fashion industry, and as a consumption market,” said Stuart McCullough, CEO of the Woolmark Company.

New Zealand-based merino company Icebreaker also upped its commitment to France this month, with the appointment of its first country manager for France and Spain.
