A winner at the fair was a combination of wool and polypropylene, a strong knit offering thermal properties that was used in a baselayer by sports brand Berg Outdoor. The four-way stretch fabrication allows greater mobility and maintains shape, and the lightweight construction accelerates dry-time.
LMA also recently launched a fabric based on a Dry Release yarn. It is made of recycled polyester and organic cotton, and has been given a Fresh Guard antimicrobial finish. “This gives the ecological benefits that all the brands are looking for, with a very technical performance and the soft touch of cotton,” said LMA’s Alexandra Araujo. It was represented in the trends section at ISPO.
“In the past, people have said they liked the performance of polypropylene in sportswear, but they weren’t so happy with the touch, so we worked on improving that,” she added. The company has created a blend that combines polypropylene and Modal to address this, which provides the performance with a soft hand and a good drape.
