Hyosung develops innovative “cooling” fabric

22/02/2013
Korean fibre manufacturer Hyosung is working on a new speciality “cool” yarn and says it is ready to go into production with a big US brand.

Garments made from Aqua X will feel cool to the touch, a particularly welcome property in warmer climes or after exercise.

It is a nylon with a high percentage of titanium dioxide (the chemical that controls lustre) and which has been engineered so the cross-section of the fibres are flat, which provides a large contact area, dispersing heat across the surface.

The company expects cooling fabrics and technology to be one of the biggest textile stories for 2013.
