Swiss sports brand works with Bentley on $10,000 skis
05/03/2013
Only 100 pairs of the handmade ‘zai for Bentley’ skis will come onto the market, with the 2013 Geneva Motor Show (March 7-17) providing a suitably high-class backdrop for the product launch. They will be available in snow white or in Bentley green.
Features include an integrated spring steel diamond motif inspired by Bentley’s signature matrix grille, and the Bentley ‘Flying B’ logo on the tips.
Each pair of the exclusive skis takes over 30 man-hours to build, and includes unique materials such as a natural rubber upper surface for improved dampening, high speed nano-base coating and edge surrounds of stainless steel. The natural rubber surface alone costs the same amount as some professional race skis, zai said at the time of the launch.
“Bentley and zai share a philosophy of power, craftsmanship and uncompromising build quality,” said Simon Jacomet, ski designer and founder of zai. “The zai for Bentley has been designed from scratch with our common DNA running through it. So it looks fantastic and boasts incredible handling, power and performance, just like a Bentley.”
The skis come with an exclusive leather and neoprene ski bag and carbon ski poles with stitched leather grips and Bentley ‘B’ logos.
