Functional fabrics conference calls for papers

A conference bringing together textile scientists, designers and engineers, as well as fibre, yarn and fabric manufacturers has been scheduled in Manchester and organisers are calling for papers.

Organised by The Textile Institute, the advances made in the production of functional textiles during the past decade will be under discussion. Interested participants are asked to submit a 200-word abstract by April 10.

The technical committee includes Prof Kim Gandhi from the UK; Brian McCarthy of Materials KTN, UK; Prof Paul Kiekens of Gent University, Belgium; and Prof Xiao-ming Tao of Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong.

The conference will be held on July 25 at Chancellors Hotel and Conference Centre, Manchester, UK.
