John Jansen, managing director and head of Keen Footwear EMEA, has been elected to the board of the European Outdoor Group (EOG).

Mr Jansen is president of the European Outdoor Conservation Association (EOCA) and joins senior executives from some of Europe’s leading outdoor brands, including Mammut and Salomon.

David Udberg, president of the EOG, commented: “John brings with him deep experience of the wider sporting goods market and has shown great commitment to our sector as president of EOCA. Based in the Netherlands and managing a subsidiary of an American company, he also brings additional international insight to the board and to the organisation as a whole.”

Mr Jansen said: “During recent years, I have witnessed how the EOG has developed and I fully appreciate the very important role that it plays in our sector. As the outdoor industry continues to mature and find its place as a global player, the activities of the EOG will become even more vital.”

The European Outdoor Group was founded in 2003 to represent the common interests of the outdoor industry and encourage collaboration on key issues. The board members are from different parts of Europe and the business models they represent vary from family run SMEs to global multi-brand players in the sporting goods industry. They include Bernd Kullmann, CEO of Deuter Sport; Rolf Schmid, CEO of Mammut Sports Group; and Jean-Marc Pambet, president of footwear at Amer Sports and president of Salomon.
