The Environmental Leader Technology Review is a program recognising excellence in products and services that provide companies with environmental benefits. Judges represented companies including PepsiCo, Staples, Yahoo! and GlaxoSmithKline.
Avitera is a dye for cellulosic fibres that enables textile mills to reduce water, energy consumption and carbon emissions by up to 50%, according to the company, by using dyeing and washing-off processes never exceeding 60°C. Judges described it as an “innovative approach with wide potential if scaled over printed fabric production worldwide”.
To celebrate the win, over 3,000 Huntsman Textile Effects associates and contractors around the world will unite to participate in the Big Switch Off programme, to turn off non-essential lights for one hour on March 22 in support of the Earth Hour initiative.
Paul Hulme, CEO of Huntsman Textile Effects, said: “We are pleased to take this opportunity to live out our core values in a tangible manner and to have all our associates and contractors come together to conserve energy through this initiative.”
