Woolrich wants its old clothes back

Pennsylvania-based outdoor apparel brand Woolrich is asking consumers to donate vintage Woolrich garments to add to an archive of the products it brought to market in previous decades.

In particular, the company is keen to hear from owners of garments that Woolrich made in the US before the 1990s.

Its archive already houses a large number of garments and blankets that Woolrich has produced in the course of nearly two centuries since it began operating, but the company is keen to grow its collection. And in addition to clothes, it is asking donors to share photos and any anecdotes relating to the garments.

“Our jackets and shirts are often passed down for generations and it’s so gratifying to receive these exceptional garments into our collection, but also to hear the stories that go with them,” said company president, Nick Brayton, on announcing the new appeal.

Each garment returned to Woolrich will be thoroughly inspected and cleaned before being stored in the newly renovated climate-controlled archive. Woolrich will determine the age of each garment and register it into the archive along with the donor’s name and any supporting documents.
