PolyOne unveils inks tailored to activewear

Polymer specialist PolyOne Corporation has launched a family of inks specifically targeted at the sportswear industry.

Wilflex Epic Top Score inks are available in a premixed colours and use new non-phthalate technology which the company says addresses “environmental and regulatory concerns”.

“Printing on today’s sports and fitness textiles can be challenging on several levels,” said Scott Craig, general manager of Specialty Inks and Polymers Systems. “We developed Epic Top Score inks to meet numerous technical and regulatory challenges while improving our customers’ competitive edge and profitability.”

The inks have a matte finish with high stretch and bleed resistance. The ability to cure at temperatures below 300F reduces the release of polyester dyes into the ink surface, which in turn decreases dye migration and bleeding. The low tack surface allows garments to be stacked, and the company offers premixed dyes in the 21 most popular athletic colours.
