EOCA announces new members
04/04/2013
Timberland Europe has joined EOCA and has committed to putting money into local projects that staff at its Lugano headquarters can take part in at the same time. Having been a member “in a previous life” (under the ownership of Timberland before its acquisition by Columbia Sportswear in 2010), sock and baselayer producer Smartwool has joined up again.
UK trade body the Outdoor Industries Association has joined as an EOCA trade partner. Finland-based trekking and sea kayaking company Moln is the first specialised travel agency to become a member of EOCA. At the time of the announcement, company owner, Roope Roine, said: “We spend all of our time taking customers into the great outdoors and have seen at first hand the damage that humans can inflict on the environment. For us, being part of an organisation seeking to address these issues is vitally important.”
Producer of high-tech ski goggles and activewear sunglasses ZEAL Optics has also joined the association. ZEAL has received an ISPO Gold Award for sustainability in recognition of its work to replace the hydrocarbons in its raw materials supply chain with plant-based products.
Finally, White & Poles Communication, the publisher of the international Mountainblog network, is the latest media partner to get involved in the conservation association.
Tanya Bascombe, joint-general manager of EOCA, said on announcing the new members: “We are thrilled that the work EOCA does is being recognised by companies and associations alike. This takes the number of new partners that have signed up since the beginning of 2013 to thirteen.”
