Indonesia imposes new children’s clothing azo dye certification

10/04/2013
The Indonesian government has begun to enforce tests for the presence of azo dyes and formaldehyde content in fabrics for baby and children’s clothing, research and testing agency SGS has reported.

Importers and manufacturers are required to certify fabrics for children’s clothing through a certified testing facility or technical institution.

A new standard, SNI 7617-2010, has come into force to complement the government directive. It applies to fabrics that come into direct contact with the skin, both made of woven and knitted fabrics of various types of fibres and fibre blends.
