Italians to promote sustainable technology in Nanjing
11/04/2013
The technology seminar, organised by ICE, the Italian trade promotion agency, and ACIMIT, the Italian Association of Textile Machinery Manufacturers, will host machinery manufacturers including Bianco, Brazzoli, Hip Mitsu, Lawer, LGL, Noseda, Obem and Reggiani.
China is the primary global market for textile machinery, and the biggest export market for Italy. In 2012, Italian machinery companies exported EUR 352 million worth of machinery to China. Although this was 22% less than in 2011, China remains the most important foreign market for Italian manufacturers, with a 21% share of total exports.
In an effort to attain the goals set by China’s 12th five-year plan on energy savings and emissions reductions, the local textile industry may look to invest in new technologies over the coming years.
The Sustainable Technologies project, launched in 2010 by ACIMIT, will be presented in Nanjing in partnership with the consulting firm D’Appolonia. The energy and environmental performances of textile machinery are measured and declared in the “green label” affixed to each machine, specifying the quantity of equivalent carbon dioxide emissions produced during operation. In the absence of shared reference standards at an international level, Italian textile machinery manufacturers are making use of this project to promote their sustainable technology systems.
ACIMIT represents an industrial sector comprising around 300 companies, producing machinery worth an annual EUR 2.4 billion, exporting to 130 countries.
