Under Armour uses Line-X coatings for waterproof shoe

US-based sportswear brand Under Armour has developed a “water shoe” in collaboration with Line-X Protective Coatings, designed for ventilation and water expulsion through a tough, coated mesh.

Line-X engineered a special aliphatic coating exclusively for the shoe which is waterproof, colour stable and durable.

Liley Thompson, senior director of outdoor footwear for Under Armour, said: "Using Line-X is a perfect example of finding a new application for footwear that brings an extreme level of durability in a way that resonates with the outdoor consumer.”

The Under Armour Water Spider is designed for an active outdoor lifestyle, with quick lock lacing, lightweight cushioning and support, a full drainage polyurethane footbed and high traction, non-slip outsoles.

Kevin Heronimus, CEO of LINE-X Protective Coatings, said: "Line-X is continually looking for new and innovative ways to use our protective coatings products and when Under Armour approached us for this partnership, we knew it would be a good fit."
