Abacus launches Local Heroes campaign

25/04/2013
Swedish golf clothing brand Abacus Sportswear has launched a campaign called Local Heroes to give six amateur golfers in its home market a taste of the high life by becoming brand ambassadors for a year.

The campaign will allow everyday golfers to experience life as a professional player, with access to premier coaching clinics, world-class teaching staff and a full Abacus wardrobe.

Amateur golfers Mikael Helgesson Araslöv, Ulrika Thelin Troxhammar, Sara Hallberg Waerme Vadstena, Johan Nordlund Umeå, Mats Sandvall and Margreth Sullivan have been named as the participants in the inaugural campaign.

During 2013, they will share their daily experiences on a dedicated blog and Facebook page hosted by Abacus, providing documentary-like insights into their daily lives.

“Given our numerous partnerships with global golfing organisations, we wanted the opportunity to connect with players at the heart of the game,” commented Henrik Bergqvist, Abacus Sportswear managing director, on launching the initiative. “We have been able to create a relationship directly with grass-roots golfers, providing them with a platform to talk about their everyday golf life and showcase what our game’s unsung heroes go through out on the golf course.”

Another Local Heroes campaign is set to be rolled out in the UK later this year.
