Lectra says new version of Diamino can save apparel manufacturers time and money

Paris-based apparel industry technology provider Lectra has announced that it will make a new version, version six, of its Diamino marker-making technology available to customers around the world. The move comes following successful trials of the new version among a core group of early adopters.

On announcing the full market launch of Diamino V6, Lectra’s chief executive, Daniel Harari, said the technology would help clothing manufacturers reduce their material consumption, lowering their cost of production.

The technology provider’s fashion marketing director, Anastasia Charbin, commented: “Marker making in a fashion context is complex, given the quantity of garments being produced and the many variables that come into play during development. Diamino minimises non-value-added tasks to put emphasis on speed and efficiency. This new release significantly increases the number of markers that can be processed automatically, which cuts order processing time in half while reducing material waste, human error and manpower costs.”

Fabrics can be visualised in the marker layout to evaluate the impact of fabric choices on cost. Diamino now also supports production constraints such as tubular fabrics (for making T-shirts and other garments without seams at the side) and shading so that users can quickly “neutralise potential issues that could slow production”, Lectra has said.

One of the early adopters involved in the trial was Brazilian children’s leisurewear brand Abrange. Company owner, Geovane Rech, said of the new version of Diamino: “With the new capacity to control for tubular fabrics, we’ve observed a 30% reduction in processing time and a 5% increase in fabric savings.”
