Nike unveils new FC Barcelona kit

Nike has unveiled new home and away shirts for FC Barcelona for next season. Naturally, the club’s traditional burgundy and blue stripes are on the new home shirt but with, the sports brand said, “a modern graphic fade stripe featured on the sleeves”.

For the first time, FC Barcelona will play in an away kit featuring the red and yellow of the Catalan flag, the Senyera.

The kit is made from recycled polyester. The shirt and shorts of each kit are made from up to 13 recycled plastic water bottles.

Nike said it has diverted more than 1.1 billion plastic bottles from landfills through the use of recycled polyester since 2010. The fabric weighs 150 grammes per square metre and is, therefore, 23% lighter than previous Nike kits. It also has a 20% stronger knit structure and “significantly improved stretch”, the brand said.
